Michael Harris

Michael Harris is founder and president of Kinetic Strategies, Inc., a
Phoenix-based broadband research and consulting firm, and publisher of
Cable Datacom News, an information service tracking cable IP
infrastructure and applications since 1996.
A leading analyst in the broadband technology and services market,
Michael's insights have been featured in top media outlets, including
the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Forbes and BusinessWeek.
Additionally, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has
utilized Michael's research in its reports on the broadband market.
Michael is a frequent speaker at key broadband industry events, having
presented at the Western Show, NCTA annual convention, BusinessWeek
Telecom Summit, Forbes Telecosm, Pulver.com's Voice on the Net (VON),
and VOTREX. Additionally, Michael currently advises several broadband
start-ups and has provided strategic counsel to leading technology and
networking firms.
Michael first became interested in broadband in 1994 while working for
Virginia-based MSO Media General Cable (later acquired by Cox
Communications). Before joining Media General, Michael served with Zynyx
Multimedia, a full-service marketing firm, where he managed programs for
a national client base that included Burger King Corp., Joseph E.
Seagram& Sons and The Coca-Cola Company.
Michael graduated from Penn State University with a B.A. in
Broadcasting/Cable Management.
Bruce Bahlmann
Consulting Analyst, Kinetic Strategies, Inc.
Leveraging his deep expertise in the cable OSS arena, Bruce Bahlmann
currently serves as an independent broadband technology consultant,
analyst and developer through his own firm Birds-Eye Network Services,
LLC.
Pr ior to founding Birds-Eye, Bruce served as director of technical
market development for cable OSS vendor Alopa Networks. In this
capacity, Bruce supported business and product development teams with
technology due diligence, patent applications, and development
requirements. From a platform perspective, Bruce designed DHCP filters,
diagnostic and auto-provisioning features, as well as an automated
firmware management system for the company. Additionally, Bruce managed
the firm's engineering presence at industry R&D organizations CableLabs
and tComLabs.
Before Alopa, Bruce was a senior systems engineer for corporate
engineering and operations AT&T Broadband, and its predecessor MediaOne,
in Minnesota. In this role, Bruce directly developed a cable modem
provisioning system that was tightly coupled with DHCP/BOOTP/TFTP
servers for both DOCSIS and proprietary products. Additionally, he
created a portfolio of network performance, monitoring and provisioning
tools for high-speed data services. In recognition of his pioneering
work, Bruce was awarded seven patents at MediaOne, including those for a
Policy Server, Self-Service Gateway, DHCP enhancements, Headend
Provisioning Agent (domestic and international), Cable Modem & Personal
Computer Troubleshooting Tool, and On-The-Fly TFTP.
Bruce earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering and M.S. in Curriculum and
Instructional Technology from Iowa State University.
